Hello Wayne Carle Community!!

This team is dedicated to finding cures and treatments for a specific type of arthritis - Rheumatoid. The two mugs (Lily and Hope - get it?) you see above both have Rheumatoid Arthritis and are two of at least four people at Wayne Carle with this disease. We would love to have a TON of Wayne Carle families participate in the Walk on Sunday, May 19th at Washington Park in Denver. Time - TBA.

Some information about Rheumatoid Arthritis - It is basically that your immune system acts like the tissue in your joints is the enemy. It is considered an auto-immune disease. Your immune system attacks the tissue and makes your joints swell and become very painful. This disease starts in the "little joints" of your hands and feet and then moves on to the larger joints. There are treatments, however, there is not a cure. Over time, the joints can become twisted and potentially need surgery. This type of arthritis is genetic and can attack kids and adults. This arthritis is different from osteoarthritis which is created from cartilage breaking down over time. With Rheumatoid, our bodies are attacking ourselves.

Our Walk to Cure Arthritis team is committed to helping the 54 million Americans with arthritis, including 300,000 children, live the fullest life possible. We’re also committed to finding a cure. Join our team and raise funds to conquer arthritis and make a life-changing difference, all while having A TON OF FUN! If you can’t join our team, we’d appreciate your donation to help reach our fundraising goal. Thank you so much and gentle hugs to you all!
